Hans-Peter Biemann was only 16 years old when he told the story of the Viking mission through images. His interest in the mission began at age 10, around the same age he began to explore photography. In fifth grade in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he built a pinhole camera from a shoebox. He parlayed his talent and expertise as his high school's photographer into the chronicler of one of the most profoundly important missions in the U.S. space program.

Biemann graciously allowed his photographs to be a part of this special anniversary celebration. We thank him for his generosity and his persistence in covering such an exciting time in our history.
