In this image, about a dozen people watch the large Scarecrow rover drive over a grayish orange boulder in an outdoor sandbox. Scarecrow is about the size of a small compact car. Its 'legs,' (mobility system) are a vibrant blue color and its large wheels are silver and covered in chevron-like cleats. Members of the media hold cameras. In this image, a large, six-wheeled rover sits on a concrete floor in a laboratory against a light-blue background. The rover's 'legs,' or mobility system are a medium blue color and the large, cleated wheels are shiny silver. On top of the mobility system is a silver-colored triangle that represents where the heart and brains of the rover will go when it is complete. This images shows a hilly, layered martian landscape, with the car-sized Mars Science Laboratory rover reaching out with its robotic arm to study rocks. The rover's mast, or 'neck,' is off-center, rising from the right-hand corner of the rover's square 'body.' Its rectangular head-like box has a camera that resembles a single eye, gazing down on the bedrock below. Large rover tracks extend far into the distance. Mars Science Laboratory - 05/10/2006

This image shows an artist's conception of the Mars Science Laboratory rover, a large, six-wheeled rover with a camera on top of a mast atop a flat, rectangular deck that also bears a disk-shaped, high-gain antenna. Behind the larger rover is a depiction of the smaller Mars Exploration Rover, about half the size of the larger rover. Both rovers are superimposed upon and appear to be driving across a red, rock-strewn surface with a hill in the background, which is a copy of an actual image of Mars sent to Earth by the Spirit rover from the 'Columbia Hills.'
