Profile: Stephenie Lievense

Stephenie Lievense
Jet Propulsion Laboratory

Stephenie Lievense is an Education Outreach Specialist for NASA's Mars Public Engagement Program. She has been working at JPL for two years. She graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and is currently pursuing her Education Credential at California State University Los Angeles.

Stephenie is the lead for the Imagine Mars Project which is a national arts, sciences and technology education initiative that has harnessed America's fascination with space and led young people to work together with educators and civic leaders to design a future Mars community. She also coordinates much of JPL's involvement with the FIRST Robotics program.

She has a special interest in supporting young women who are interested in science and technology. She has developed and participated in two interactive webcasts that helped achieve that goal and hopes to find even more ways to reach out to the next generation's scientists and engineers.

She lives in Alhambra, CA with her husband Dan and a one-year-old yellow laborador, Chase. Stephenie grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and enjoys hiking, skiing, reading and most of all working with the youth group at her church.
