What advice can you offer to young scientists or engineers?

Space is cool, very cool. If it's what you want to do, then go for it! You don't have to give up other things in your life, though. Play sports, make music, dance, read up on history, whatever you like to do. Being a scientist or engineer requires dedication, but it's much more rewarding when you have other interestes, too!

When you were in elementary school, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a space scientist. Instead, I'm a space engineer!

When did you decide you wanted to be in the space industry and how did you go for it?

When the Challenger accident happened, I was in elementary school. I realized how brave those astronauts were and how exciting their work was. I could think of nothing more inspiring than the awesome wonder of space, and I knew that I wanted to be a part of exploring it.

Do you have any hobbies?

I play the flute and piccolo. I dance. I love decorating the house, traveling with my husband, and playing with my cats!
