Background Information
I was involved in pioneering lunar radar mapping using the 70-cm radar at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico. Since coming to JPL in 1969, I have worked on a number of projects including the Apollo Lunar Sounder, Seasat-A, Voyager, AIRSAR, and Magellan. In addition to being Mars Express Project Science Manager am currently involved with a JPL technology transfer project that is constructing a dual-wavelength interferometric aircraft radar, which will be operated commercially soon.

Contributions to Mars Exploration
