Background Information
I was born in Rochester, New York in 1943 and moved to Southern California with my brother and parents in 1948. I’ve been interested in electronics and Ham Radio (K6ICQ) as a hobby since I was 10. While I was in college, I got my first real job at North American Aviation where I worked on the Apollo Program among others. After college, I was in the Civil Engineer Corps in the Navy for 3 years, including a tour in Vietnam in 1967 in which I was involved in building radio communications facilities. By 1973 I was at JPL working on the Voyager Project. (The two Voyager Spacecraft were launched in 1977 and are still going!) My next project was Galileo to Jupiter (mission is ending in 2003), then Cassini to Saturn (arrival at Saturn in 2004). Other highlights were Mars Pathfinder, Deep Space 1 (many firsts including Ion Propulsion), then Mars Exploration Rovers.
