Background Information
I grew up in Southern Maryland, living in Edgewater and Dunkirk. After high school, I moved off to college in the big city-Pittsburgh. I started rock climbing and playing bass while in Pittsburgh, two passions I continue to enjoy in California.

Contributions to Mars Exploration

I came to JPL to work on Mars missions, so I was excited when I finally weaseled my way onto MER by signing up to build a contact switch sensor for the rover's body. This quickly got canned due to volume limitations and packaging constraints, but the mechanical team had their hooks in me and had plenty of other tasks, so I wound up designing a bracket that holds two science magnets and which helps restrain the solar panels during launch and landing. Personal Reflections

Getting to explore another planet! I've always enjoyed finding natural areas that are new to me, and then getting to know them. Working on the operations team gives me chance to do this on Mars, albeit through the eyes, wheels, and arm of a robot. [more personal reflections ...]
