Background Information
Fred Serricchio is a Senior Engineer with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Guidance and Control Analysis Group. His expertise ranges from software engineering to modeling, simulation, analysis and design. His flight experience includes the Mars Exploration Rover mission (MER), Mars Science Lander (MSL), and Phoenix.

His past research involves autonomous control system design and implementation for in-situ science and sample acquisition, coring, and caching technologies to be used on Mars or on the surface of a small body (comet or asteroid). This includes sampling and acquisition from mobile and flexible platforms such as landers or rovers. His research involves simulation, modeling and control system design for Smart Landing concepts, as well as developing an environment for detailed control system analysis related to orbital attitude dynamics.
