Background Information
After a few years in computer graphics (back when that was a novelty) I began working in computer Vision applied to robotics. I developed several systems that used simple techniques to move rovers inside buildings avoiding obstacles and trying not to crash into walls. That was not always successful. Then I had the opportunity to apply my computer vision knowledge to medical applications. After a few years I felt the call of the wild and wanted to return to my original line of work: vision for robotics. This is why I came to join JPL.

Contributions to Mars Exploration

I am one of the few people on earth that has a martian drivers license! For quite a few years now I spend my days trucking the Mars Exploration Rovers, Spirit and Opportunity, on the surface of Mars. [more contributions ...]
Personal Reflections
