Background Information
Kurt has worked at the USCG Menlo Park, NASA Ames, Carnegie Mello, NASA JPL, and now the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping at the University of New Hampshire. He first worked for NASA Ames in 1989 looking for extra-solar planets and then moved on to underwater vehicles and mars rovers. At UNH, he leads the NOAA funded "Chart of The Future" project working to improve maritime navigation and safety.

Contributions to Mars Exploration

For planetary rovers, he has contributed to 3D stereo vision, realtime path planning/obstacle avoidance, and 3D visualization. With Laurent Nguyen, he co-created the Viz system for spacecraft visualization. [more contributions ...]
