Bekah Sosland was an eighth-grade student in Fredericksburg, Texas, when NASA's Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity landed on Mars in January 2004. The landings helped inspire her to pursue a career in space exploration, and now she is an engineer on the team operating the long-lived Opportunity. This photo of her was taken in Opportunity's mission support area at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. A full-size model of the rover stands behind her.
